Activision has announced that a mobile companion app will be launching alongside Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare in November.

Developed by Beachhead Studio, makers of the – now defunct – Elite. The app will release on November 3 to coincide with the Day Zero Edition launch. It will be available on Android, iOS, Windows Phone and Kindle.

As detailed in an official blog post, the main focus of the app will be on Clan Wars.

  • Clan Wars: Clan Wars for Advanced Warfare will begin with a pre-qualifying war from November 15 – 16. Placement during that war will determine your division ranking for the first official Clan War, scheduled from November 26 – December 1.
  • War Room: providing a commander’s oversight of the most important Clan Wars activity. Three scrollable panels offer pertinent info on the current Clan War, previous engagements, and Top War Contributors.
  • Active Roster: if some members of your Clan are unable to participate in an upcoming Clan War, the Clan Leader can remove those members from the Active Roster. The Clan Leader can just as easily add those members back to the Active Roster when they’re available to compete.
  • Clan Profile: your Clan Profile page has been bolstered to highlight the top performing members of your Clan. Each week, we will highlight your most active member, MVP, and player with the highest KDR. Nothing wrong with a little friendly competition, right?
  • Clan Calling Cards: exclusive Clan Calling Cards will be supported in the game and in-app. Level up your Clan by competing in Clan Wars or playing multiplayer matches with Clan members to unlock more Clan Calling Cards.
  • Emblem Editor: Player Emblems are back in-game and in-app. Using our robust Clan Emblem editor, start designing your Emblem in the app while on the go, and then finish it at home on your console, or vice versa. In addition, this year, we’re giving all Clan members the ability to design and submit a Clan Emblem to their Clan Leader for approval.

I really like when games do this kind of thing. It's entertaining and it makes feel like your always connected to the game and your friends. This apps seems like it'll add a minigame and looks really good.

I think it is better for them to have elite as an app instead of using the website. With this app it is easier to access your information when you are on the go.

Yes. Most of my friends are online. Just the other day my IRL friend smashed a pizza I was eating because he said I was chewing too loud. He wouldn't fight me, so I smashed some in his face and haven't spoke to him since.

I just hope this one will last a while, unlike Elite, which dropped dead after a relatively short amount of time (compared to some other services). But then again, this is Activision we're talking about, so...

Easy access is what will make this Advance Warfare app a success. You figure they've had years to develop this project. A user friendly mobile app is not too much to ask for.
