It takes way too long to earn rewards in the battle pass

So I haven't played a COD since MW3 back in the day before battle passes were a thing, but this was on GP so I figured I'd try it and I liked it. Well now the battle pass is here and maybe I'm doing something wrong but I just played for an hour and I earned a total of one reward.

I figured it'd be similar to Halo where you can earn a reward (or multiple) per match and also the Halo battle passes last forever unlike this one. I feel as I just wasted 10 bucks on this. It seems to me they want you to dedicate your entire life to this one game. Either that or I'm doing something wrong and there's a better way to unlock what you purchased quicker.

It's not you - the battle pass rewards do take a long time to acquire. This started whenever they reworked the way the battle pass works, I think in MWII. You do get much more XP for objective-based gamemodes and playing/contributing to the objective. In addition, Zombies and Warzone give a lot of XP.

Double-XP weekends, although few and far between, help a lot. Fingers crossed for one this weekend or sometime soon.
