Advanced Warfare to reduce "Quick Scoping" effectiveness

Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey says the studio is taking steps to reduce the tactic inAdvanced Warfare. Sledgehammer's focus for multiplayer is ensuring that skill, not an "overpowered create-a-class," will determine the outcome of online battles, so that someone who's perfected playing as a sniper will be on equal footing with other players who have developed comparable skills with assault rifles or shotguns.

"Sniper classes are not going to be overpowered relative to their peers. The ability to master a sniper rifle and be great at it will be equal to the ability to master any other class," he told New Zealand's3 News. "We've done some things to make sure snipers are not able to take advantage of their properties—for example, there are attachments based on weapon classes that are specific. The ability to quick-draw with an assault rifle is important, but you don't want to have the ability to quick-draw with a sniper rifle because that lends itself to being a faster, quick-scope model."

The addition of exoskeletons will also be a balancing factor. "I'm sure people will get really proficient with snipers, but you've got more ways to move and can move faster than ever before," Condrey said. "Catching a person in the air with a sniper rifle, I think that will be very challenging, but very satisfying."

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare comes out on November 4.

I never understood quickscoping, does it use console aim assist or something? I always prefer shooting without the scopes, scopes and sights always reduced my field of vision and causes me to die by people I can't see.

I've always hating quickscoping. I never got the point of it being so cool and the stereotype that all snipers quickscope. I used to be a heavy sniper back around the MW3 era, and I never got the point of quickscoping. I sometimes 1v1 troll them with the SVU or XPR in BO2 and the Barett in other games.

Quick Scope it is what makes the Warfare series different than the other series. I feel like they should still keep that feature for those who enjoy it. I do not think it is over powered since it takes time to learn and it is easy to get around.

That's great news! There's nothing I hate more than little twerps rushing with a sniper and getting away with quicker shots than an AR. I love the idea of having different attachments for different guns, that only makes sense.

It makes sense to nerf the quick scoping. I also hate that some little twerp can get off quick, accurate, and deadly shots when a sniper is more accurate when set up and planted for shooting. It seems like a fair and wise decision to me. It is much more fun to play on a somewhat level playing field and this sounds as if that is what they are headed towards. I know fans of using quick scoping may be mad about it, but in the long run it will help the game become even better.

I 110% hate being quickscoped but i can't complain, i used to do it ALL of the time!
I used to always quickscope and think i was MLG, only recently have i noticed how annoying it actually is.

As a person who never quite got the hang of quickscoping, this makes me happy that I won't have to worry as much about it.

I sincerely think that this is a welcome change to the Call of Duty formula. I always hated quickscopers and how they thought they were the cool stuff just because they knew how to press 2 buttons in a successive manner. While I did try quickscoping once and managed to for a bit, I dismissed it afterwards, thinking it was stupid and that quickscoping wasn't useful at all.

Quickscoping has never really bothered me that much. Getting people on your team in S&D who are going for those montage 360 no-scopes... that's the most annoying part.

But you'll still have bolt guns with iron sights, so i hope everyone doesn't think you won't still see people running around with rifles one shotting you as you turn the corner...

I'll make sure i wave though.

Exactly, I never thought it was a healthy part of the gameplay and I'm happy that it's being taken away or at least toned down this time. Snipers are meant to sniipe people, not to run up to them and quickscope them to death.

They did something similar in the first Black Ops, they really reduced the effectiveness of quick scoping. I think it's more of a problem on the consoles due to aim assists ability to stick to the target by just sweeping the cross hairs across the player and pulling the trigger. I'm happy they've made it harder to quick scope although I hope some of the maps aren't too small making proper sniping pointless.

I hate that, honestly. Like some one else mentioned, they did that in Black Ops 1 and in my opinion it was annoying. I see nothing bad with being able to quickscope to be honest. Sure it's not realistic, but it's a video game.

I think that it should still be a feature. I'm not insulting anyone's playing but as mentioned above it's fairly easy to get around and you do have to learn the technique. Now you're just making other players mad in order to please others. Ca't say it won't be nice to not deal with it anymore.

This is exactly how I feel about snipers. The little kids running around trying to trickshot you and miss everytime and pull out a pistol because they can't hit you with the sniper. That really ticks me off when that happens when I'm trying to play for fun and I can't because of the constant sniper bullets every 2 seconds.

I disliked quick scoping since it first appeared. I know BO2 use a trail effect which caused you to have to lead the sniper to hit someone. Still quick scoping was there just not as fast. I just feel they should just create a sniping game mode for those people and have the adjustment for everyone else. I do find it funny for them to say they are battling quick scoping because it effects the integrity or their game. Yet, if they want a normal game. They should have made the game simple with no perks, or kill streaks.

As long as everyone has the ability to do it, it is just part of the game. Is it realistic? No. But that is what makes it fun. For every person complaining about getting quickscoped there is another one complaining about getting blitzed. It's all in fun.

I feel that there is nothing really wrong with quick scoping but when there are people that request it during every online game is absolutely annoying! To be honest, I completely suck at it. I mean I've gotten a few successful quick scopes from here and there but I do not consider myself an expert by any means. Obviously Its best to quick scope when an enemy is in a decent range meaning there close (people may disagree) but if i'm aiming down my sights for a while I'm never able to see other enemies around me, so i just get killed. Quick scope is a solution at best.
