Call of Duty = The Jersey Shore of the gaming community?

Now I've played many online games in my day (starting with Doom and Quake Arena back in the late 90's), but I'd have to say that the Call of Duty community is filled with the most annoying, unoriginal, frustrating little scumbags I've ever seen.

It's never a surprise to see someone with a naked woman as their emblem with a gamertag like "ii x (insert irrelevant tech word here)" and clan tag reading [SWAG] or [YOLO] running their mouth over the internet about how their K/D is higher than mine. Then after I mute them, they'll continue to harrass me via PM, joining my lobby, etc. telling me how bad I am and that they're going to have sex with my mother.

What ever happened to sportsmanship, teamwork, etc. in online gaming? It existed, and still does in certain games, but jesus christ this community makes me want to absolutely hang myself. Anybody else see this as an issue?

I see it as an issue, too. I've encountered a lot of these players in my time with Call of Duty. It's not just on Xbox Live, it's also on PlayStation Network.

What's worse is these players don't really think their actions should have any consequence. They just carry on with their attitude regardless of you defending yourself, and/or telling them to STFU.

And I don't think Call of Duty is the Jersey Shore of the gaming community, sure we find asshats in there, but Jersey Shore is this comedic show with a "love-hate" relationship with their fellow buddies. I'm one of the millions who watch it and love it.

I see the same thing you're seeing. However, I don't really see to many people trying to join my party to keep harrasing me. I always try to be friendly when people have mics to work together to win. At times though, you'll get those hostile people that just want to start stuff because it's an online game and they know that nothing can ever happen.

Lol I wasn't mentioning the show, I meant the actual New Jersey shoreline area. Full of total d-bags who think they're better than everyone, have a bigger penis, etc.

Yes! I try to be friendly, but it usually ends up with the other guy saying, "Hey f--k you struzinski". Or I will be talking to one of my friends in the lobby saying something like "So Cam, what's the plan for later?" and some other little twat will come out of no where "Having anal sex with your mom that's the plan for later" and then the trolling ensues.

im new to the cod gaming world , so far i havnt had any problems with people but i doubt it will stay that way . The world is full of idiots so your bound to run into a few in everything you do. if their harrasing you because they have a better k/d then its time for some people to get a life and grow a set.

sadly, i agree. its a great game ruined by a dumbass community. freaking 7 year olds swearing at you and 15-year old dropout undereducated douchbags with SWAG and YOLO as their clantags telling you that they banged your mom. but the most annoying word you hear everyone say is "Faggot'. God almighty i hate that word. its all anyone says. thats why even though i still play COD, i also play other games [ ie battlefield, MoH, Minecraft.}
