Campaign save-game lost...

Hi! I had to reformat my pc, so I saved the COD folder from documents, which contains the savegame file. After reinstalling, I copied it back but now the game insists on overwriting my savegame with a fresh one, forcing me to restart the campaign, which I really don't want to do because I was almost done....Any suggestions? Thank you!

I thought that the game progression was more saved on their end. Try saving that folder of yours somewhere safe and then simply let the reload do its thing. Login and see if you are back where you were before the reload.

Thank you! So what they actually save on their end, is my/your multiplayer progress, including weapons, rank, progression and so on. The single player campaign is a different beast. It's saved locally. I already tried uninstalling and reinstalling, I also tried deleting the folder and letting them put their own back,, always the same result: they force a fresh savegame on me and ignore mine.
I'm using a pc.

hmmmmm........ maybe I will launch into campaign again and see what happens. I have finished it so I expect to see that it is still finished. I have reloaded my game since I finished so I can match at least sorta your situation.

Thank you! Unfortunately, that thread is referring to the previous MW2 game and not the latest that was released last October.
By, the way, none of my files there are read only, which can be an issue as well.....

Then, next time post in general. Everyone in this thread assumes you were talking about "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" when in fact you are talking about 2009's "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2."

No, sorry for the misunderstanding. The problem I am having IS with the latest and newest Warzone2.0/Modern Warfare II. That post that CascadiaSRL was kind enough to refer me to is referring to the PREVIOUS version of the game from 2009, thus is not relevant for my problem.
