DMZ DMZ without mic

First, let me introduce myself since I am new to this forums I am 40 years old gamer, been playing original CODs back in the day (mostly BO and MW2 in 2009 but also COD2).

Recently I've picked up new Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and... I am having a blast! Campain is decent enough but multi... Ah man! Tried Invasion and was lost for days.
All weapons and attachments maxed out, prestige lvl4 so I thought "time to try some other modes". And this is why I posted this thread. I tried DMZ because the basic idea was appealing to me. BUT. When I pluged in phones with mic to my PC (coms is supposed to be somewhat important in this mode) I realized that:

- other players are mostly mute/dont use english
- open mic is a nightmare. Food/crying kids/ loud music....
- team play is barely existent. Yeah, sometimes the team sticks together but forget about tactical approach

So, can I succesfully play DMZ mode without mic? Using only text chat and pings? As I've played with random people, maybe different solution is to look for a decent, laid-back clan?

You can absolutely play DMZ without a mic...

Do I recommend it? no...

One of the new features of DMZ that is a real boon is proximity chat and the ability to hook up with people who otherwise would kill you...

For me personally, if ever I am in contact with another operator and they remain silent when I call out "FRIENDLY!! FRIENDLY!!" I assume they are hostile and take steps to eliminate the threat..

So yes.. You can play DMZ without a mic.. But the degree of difficulty rises precipitously when you do..

in dmz solo is very difficult for me but i like the challenge. if you want to do missions i suggest go in as trio with peeps you know because teamwork goes along way. using mic is ok. dont trust anybody unless they are down and pleading for help that way they join your squad and cant kill you,everyone is out for themselves and remember you may have something they want. i dont think there is away to stop hearing unwanted noise from others open mic unless you mute them. and if there is no commication from another operator remember silence is deadly and they may be lying to get close.

Yeah but got any tips for a dmz noob playing with random operators? Should I just keep going an eventually I will learn how to survive?

Well that's what I'm hoping for had a 20 solo rounds I'm probably smoked down 15 of them but I keep trying

But what I do solo also is I will go in and look for the closest x-fill and I will go try to collect some things especially a weapon if not two weapons to put in my stash and if you can find two people to play with consistently as a team to do missions it's a lot more enjoyable

But now I am getting smoked everytime I go into the zone hostile operators kill me after only a few mins

well alot of times it is difficult to obtain items and it does seem now players are taking out others to maybe get things so they dont have to work for them. but its part of the game. and if your solo 99 percent of time other operators especially trios are taking you out out. and i have seen plenty of solo on youtube that are good players and they are getting it done. so it is possible and involves some thinking and strategy to be sucessful.

For the open mic issues, you can mute those squad members. That way you can still use your mic to talk to the other teammate(s).

Whenever you have a squad that has loud background noises, click the headset icon, right click their name and mute.

You don't have to be a clan leader or recruiter, you want to join a clan... GO. THERE. Posting in the wrong forum is gonna be crickets. You are lucky to even get replies, like here. Most people get less responses.
