Does anyone here want a new WW2 Call of Duty?

Does anyone on this forum think that we could use a new Call of Duty which is World War 2 themed? The last one we had was World at War, which is one of the BEST newer Call of Duty games that came out. I loved the campaign, the zombies and the multi-player. I loved stabbing people online with a bayonet, or killing everyone with my sawed-off shotgun, or burning them with a flamethrower. But that's not the point. Does anyone here actually want the next Call of Duty to go back to the roots? It will basically be World at War, only newer and better hopefully.

I think this comes down to personal opinion. Personally, I wouldn't want a WW2 era Call of Duty. Perhaps in another game like Assassin's Creed, but I feel the WW2 First Person shooter sub genre has been saturated. Perhaps if one FPS game does a very good job of it in a years or two , but just the one (well developed) game.

I kind of agree, a WWII CoD might be sweet but they really can't do anything new, it's just been there done that. If you really want a WWII shooter there's hundreds upon hundreds of great ones on the PC, my all-time favorite being the Brothers in Arms series, such great games.

Yeah, but why didn't people talk the same way when MW3 and Black Ops were coming out? It was kind of more of the same, and people still liked those games. Why wouldn't a WW2 CoD be good? They can add a whole new storyline and setting, example, in World at War it was mostly the battle between the Japanese and American army, and in CoD 2 it was mostly set in France, between the British/Americans and the Germans. If they could mix that, and add some new elements to the game, like more weapons from WW2, new campaign, new gamemodes etc. I think it could be a good game.

You make some good points. And I think that one or two WW2 themed games on next gen could be popular, but I'm not sure if Call of Duty is the franchise that's the one to do it. Black Ops and MW3 is also more of the same like you said, but Advanced warfare is an example of the franchise trying to get away from simply "more of the same", not just of the 20th century but also of the early 21st century. I can see them going so far as to even making Halo style time era games. Honestly, what would be amazing would be a Timesplitters style Call of Duty, where for some reason you could jump between a variety of different time periods in the same game.

Yeah, it is an example of the franchise getting away from more of the same. But honestly, I think the next year's Call of Duty is going to be AW2 or something, and it will be the same game with new maps, new weapons and some new gadgets. I am 99% sure that this is going to happen. That's just how they roll. I'd respect them a lot, tho, if they made a WW2 CoD again.

Considering how popular Advance Warfare has been so far, I'd probably have to agree with you, but hey, there's usually two Call of Duty games in developement at the same time, so even if one of them is just another AW, we may be treated to something special the year after.

Well, yeah, but I'm guessing the one next year is going to be something similar to either AW/MW or BO games. But hey, I guess not many people would actually buy their next CoD if it was World War 2 themed. I know I would, but, I'm not the one paying their bills. It seems like all they care about right now is how many copies it sells on release.

Definitely. Call of Duty really needs to take a break from all the futuristic storylines and go back to some good old World War 2 warfare. I remember rumors spreading before Advanced Warfare's announcement that Treyarch is already working on a World War 2 game. If made by Treyarch, I will probably pre-order it, as they usually make some really good stuff.

I think COD needs to take a break in general, it's getting fatiguing. I'm having more fun playing turn based Japanese RPGs than modern or any kind of shooter. If the game wants to do something different, stop doing the hollywood movie campaign and try and do something like the first Crysis maybe.

I talk about this weekly! I would love a new WW2, or even Vietnam shooter. Vietnam would be great because they could implement the drug and ptsd issues all the soldiers were facing, and the weapons would be so cool. I'm just imaging the beautiful jungle scenery now...
