Fake Beta

I've seen few humors going around, where people on their MSN status, just put down:

Xbox 360: Modern Warfare 2 Beta (zEvArAnO) <<< not zevarano but their own GT's. If you see this guys... and they ask you to pay them, then do not believe them. Currently there is no Beta. They might tell you they have few invites, once you pay them, they will send you a code. Do not trust it.

Its fake.

Thanks for the information. Gotta be careful with scammers like this. I always follow this rule: if it's too good to be true, don't do it.

All though I would never pay to be in a BETA anyways...
Some people are crazy though! A few years ago i got accepted into the World of Warcraft closed beta. I played for about 2 hours, decided i hated it and sold my account on e-bay. Someone paid me $300 just to play a beta game a few months early!

Thanks for the heads up...

I never heard of any game developer charging people to play their beta games. The beta testers are the ones doing the favor to find glitches/bugs, you shouldn't be charging them.

No - I think the scam is general gamers pretending they have been given invite codes to invite you to the beta, then trying to sell you them. This is nothing to do with the developers, just some greedy kids :(

Correct. But betas are usually an advertising scheme.

The more people play a beta, the better publicity it has.

You have never heard of one since its never happened! There's a few out there like Aion that give you access to beta if you pre-order the game but other than that there's never been a beta that charges people to play.
