Forget the new consoles for a moment

Hey all,

I am going to be purchasing a console again (I use to own an XBOX360 until I sold it due to needing the money desperately). I cannot afford to buy one of the new console releases and then fork out for all new games for it too.

So, I will be sticking with the now old generation and reinvesting in a XBOX360 or PS3..

The question is, what one do I go for?

I have seen plenty of good bundles on Ebay from people that are selling all their old gear and I now can't decide. I had the XBOX for a long time and it was good, but maybe it's time to change and hit up the PS3 scene?

What do you guys think?

Go for the PS3. A change might suite you.
Whatever you decide, you won't be wrong, both are excellent gaming platforms. So it's your choice, but if it was mine I'd go with the PS3.

Well I ordered a PS3 and an amazing bundle of 18 games for £147 on Ebay at the end of yesterday. I am pretty damn excited to start playing on a console again!

I bought a PS3 around the time The Last of Us came out. Nobody warned me about the loading screens. I could not stand sitting around, waiting for all these things to install just so I could play the game I bought. I promptly returned it. Today, I have a Wii coming in the mail, just like you, I don't see a reason to buy into the latest generation, at least not yet. The Wii is a good party type console, I don't think they've mastered online quite yet.

Another thing I didn't consider when I bought the PS3 was it doesn't come with a headset. Well, I particularly liked being able to talk to the people I'm playing with online. You get a lot more people with headsets if it comes with the system. For this sake, I would go for Xbox 360. Then again, you could just go PC and use your Xbox 360 controller (or any controller for that matter) with it.

There are plenty of people selling their old generation consoles now because they are all buying the new ones. I got a really good deal tbh, the 18 game bundle includes COD MW3, MW2, WAW. Fifa, dead rising 2, need for speed, various assassin creed games and a lot more. Well chuffed.

Stick with Sony as they actually care what the consumer thinks.

Got the PS3 yesterday and hooked it all up last night. Felt AWESOME to have a controller back in my hands. Now I just need to decide which COD to focus on..

Glad to see you went with the PS3. I have an Xbox and my bro has a PS3. At first I thought I made the better choice but after playing with both I found myself enjoying the PS3 a lot more.

I'm glad you decided to go with the ps3. As TheViper said, my xbox 360 died. I got a new one and it died too. My ps3 is still going

I would always recommend the ps3. If you are tight on money, it is the best choice because you don't have to pay for internet. They have plenty of free games you can download too!

I'd have chosen the PS3 aswell to be honest so I definitely think you made the right choice. I've been lucky enough to have both Sony and Microsoft consoles at the same time, and I still do now with both the PS4 and the ONE, and I have to say the PlayStation is my favourite up to now.

I really enjoy the 360 and have had it for a long time. But the PS3 is awesome as well. I don't think you could have gone wrong either way.

I think with both them consoles it's a case of you pay your money and take your choice. They both have a huge back catalogue of games, and these days you can pick either of them up at a decent price as well.

It is new era. Why walk when you can fly. Go for the PS4 for some change.

Maybe because walking is cheaper than flying and if your into video games but can't afford a PS4 or XBOX ONE, you'll be left with no other option but to buy an older generation console.

Eventually they'll stop supporting the last-generation consoles so I definitely wouldn't buy an older console. That being said, the new ones aren't all that perfect either. You would've been better off just building a gaming PC so you can have the best of both worlds.

I've always been more of a console fan than PC, but that's not to say ones better than the other, I guess it's just what you grow up with at the end of the day.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to PC building and I've just always gone for the easier option.
