I think this game has been generally a success in virtual every way by my perspective.
First, I play on PC,
Second, I am pushing 65 years of age so my reflexes are not that of younger players,
Third, I have a very good internet connection,
Fourth, I primarily play Quick Play.
The above information is provided to form the basis for my following views. I emphasis, my views so take them or leave them. This is not a PC vs Console, camper (tactical) nor Run N Gun, hacker vs non hacker sort of discussion. It is simply me stating why I like this game.
The game has problems and I fully agree and hear what others in this forum have been saying. I too have experienced some of those things that cause frustrations. But I tend to be a "Big Picture" sort of person and understand that the game is not going to work perfectly for everyone. There are so many things that come into play from the moment that you hit a key or button and it hits the server then back to you. Activision cannot control all those things. There are thousands of people playing the game and not one of us is identical to anyone else. Sure we all have the same model of XBox or Playstation or at the very least very similar ones. This doesnt mean that they are equal nor does it imply that performance will be identical. Same goes for computers and I would even suggest that it is very much more likely that computers, similar or even identical will perform the same. It just isnt going to happen. What this means is that some are going to have minor problems and so will see the game not play at all. Maybe the game has some issues that cause shit to happen but we have all downloaded the same files. Suffice it to say that we do not live in a perfect world so things are never going to be perfect.
Then there are those that refuse to play fair. Hackers, cheaters, exploiters, call them what you will as they are all scum. I include those who use cronus devices or any other similar device to enhance performance. What can we do about it? Nothing except to either report and hope or simply leave the game and find another server that hopefully has more honorable players. What can Activision do about it? Obviously, they cannot do everything to eliminate it. I personally think that they have been doing a great job because in my online gaming times I have not seen a huge number of those asses playing. They are there and they are here to stay but compared to other releases I think the numbers are down.
I acknowledge that having consoles and pc players mixed together can and does create friction sometimes. Many wish that the two were still separated just like it was in the old days. Fun fact, the old days are gone and wont be back. For the most part the friction, to my observations, are less than in games like Battlefield 2042. Dont believe? Go read their huge and copious numbered threads just on this issue. We have all given up a lot when crossplay became a thing but we have no choice but to suck it up.
Finally there are the different game formats such as Quick Play, WarZone and so on. I cannot say much about must as I do not play most. I stick with Quick Play and sometimes Invasion. That is it. From what I have seen in these forums is that most of the issues are not in Quick Play but rather in WarZone. In this I think we are our own worst enemy in that we are always clamouring for the game to run the way that we want it to. Everytime that a change is made it is going to piss off people who want something different or to be kept the way that it was. I feel that the problems really start when Activision tries to please everyone by catering to everyone which generally means fudging on things which in turn causes glitches and more pissed off people. Lets be fair, in between all the complaints and adjustments they still had the time to release Season 5 and to demonstrate that they still do care about this game. Lets, at least, give them that much.
In a nutshell this is how "I" see the game and it matters not to me how you perceive this thread. My opinion is mine and mine alone. I have always respected everyones rights to have an opinion and just as important the right to sometimes just rant to relieve the pressure.
Cheers
