Hmm that's interesting. I looked it up and the answer was pretty much Because. That isn't much of an answer really. Another site answered saying that they think it's to avoid confusion with another product that used even numbers. Yeah. Okay.
 
It is to prevent confusion with the number of cores in a processor.

CPUs have either 1 core, or multiple cores.

Multiple core CPUs usually have core counts in even numbers, so using odd numbers makes it easier to see if we are talking model range or core count.
