If I could turn down just the Helos it would work but then You can't hear footsteps. Puts you at a huge disadvantage.

Somehow I manage to have my volumes adjusted so I can both hear footsteps and not get my hearing blown out by gunfire or helicopters. Sounds like you need to turn down your volume to avoid hearing damage.
