After renting it as there was no way I was going to pre order after the crap that was ghost or aw I am pleased to say I saved $60 and only lost $8 on what I pray is the Last version of the disgrace that cod has become. Thank you actvision and last 3 makers of what once was the best game series ever for screwing it up to a level I thought no one could. BO3 is the biggest waste of a game ever. It plays like it was written by some who has never seen a fps ever. The thing that could have gotten me to buy it after the multi player was so horrible was the zombies but that is even worse! Any hope of MW2 or the real Black Ops titles comming to backwards compatibility so I can enjoy cod again? IF you havent got BO3 yet Don't! Or at least wait 2 weeks for it to price drop to cheap.
Which console did you rent it for? Because Black Ops 3 was designed from the ground up for Next Gen consoles.
1. The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions only come with multiplayer and zombies.
2. Graphics downgraded intensely. There are images out there showing the difference between Current Gen and Next Gen consoles.
3. Black Ops 3 on Current Gen consoles were developed by two different companies, while Next Gen consoles were made straight from Treyarch themselves.

I got for the Xbox 1. Yes the graphics are very nice but even trash can get put in a pretty package. Treyarch sadly tried to follow the aw game idea instead of doing what they did best which was to make a game for players not just a game to be just sold. I am not happy about my view of this game. I waited 2 years hoping Treyarch would get back the glory of cod and drop an awesome game but instead they failed.
It's ok. On Xb1 it's very laggy and I have pretty good wired connection dedicated only to my console. Also the guns seem very weak but it could be lag related as well.
I had high hopes for Treyarch to revive the series but I think its a game people are going to tire of quickly. Jmho.

I actually enjoy the game. Is it better than Black Ops 2? No, neither is it better than Black Ops 1. With that said I would say it is leaps and bounds more fun than. AW and Ghosts. When I first started playing I felt differently. It seemed like I died extremely easy and no matter which gun I used the other person would always kill me. Multiplayer seemed to be near impossible and free for all was also a slaughter.
I stuck with it and I am now rank 32 I believe. I can say I am starting to get better at the game and enjoy it far more. While I never enjoyed or embraced the AW movement system I do enjoy the BO3 sliding and wall running although it takes some getting used to. The guns are very unbalanced which may turn a new player away. Unless you are highly skilled or playing a game mode other than TDM or Free For All, you will find using assault rifles or the early SMGs difficult. The turning point for me was unlocking the burst fire sub machine gun. This weapon turned the game around and I now win about 60% of free for all in 1st.
I will confess I have always been a bit of a camper at times. I enjoy laying claim to an entire building and filling it with traps. I relish getting into those battles where me and another player fight for control of the spot the entire match. The lack of that type of playing in AW and Ghosts really turned me away. Sure, people hate campers but without them you have mindless chaos. Those camping spots add tactical elements to a map and make it more interesting.
So on those same lines the Hive specialist was the second reason I began to enjoy the game. You will find "controlling" an area of the map difficult with the speed of combat, quick kills and movement system but the hive changes all that. It is a very powerful tool for campers or those that like to patrol an area and I cannot stress enough just how much I like it.
As for the maps, they aren't great. The maps in other treyarch games were much more inspired and often features interesting themes. For whatever reason call of duty has turned to making "serious" themed maps. Players don't want serious, they want fun. That is why maps like Nuketown, Raid and Hijacked were so popular. With that said the maps are better than other recent titles. There are good lanes of combat, camping spots and various ways to play depending upon your style. I hope future DLCs are more inspired.
So to conclude my review I would suggest anyone who has the game try playing at least into the 30s and they may find it grows on them.

So i splurged and bought a ps4 so i could move on from blops2. Never played ghosts or aw.
So far i am disappointed. I'm currently at rank 28 which allows me to now use 4 attachments since primary gunfighter 2 unlocks at 28. This is the cool part about this game. You ca literally use all 10 picks for your gun if you had wanted to.
Im an LMG player with 100k+ kills on blops 2 with overall 1.8 kdr. The past few months ive been keeping it over 2.15. On this new game I'm nearly half that.
Sure it takes time to learn new maps. But these maps are mostly terrible. Multiple lines of sight everywhere on the big maps. Impossible to cover everything. They are maze like with a lot of open area. Redwood, Hunted, even Aquarium. Spawns are terrible and there will always be someone coming up right behind you unless you immediately run from one side of the map to the other like 12year olds.
Either you have to camp in a corner or be completely aggressive. No room in this game yet for being moderately aggressive, since you'll be stabbed in the back or you get outgunned. LMGs are supposed to have advantage on long range fights over ar and smg but nope. Maybe when i unlock the 4th LMG we will see.
I started doing a little better when i wired my connection and then port forwarded the ps4 into the dmz. That helped with the instakills - you know, when you get shot and killed but the enemy never even raised their gun until you were already dead?
I liked the sleek, clean and sterile maps on blops2. They made sense and it was easy to see enemies. This game, with all of the high jumping and wall sliding is like trying to fight a bunch of flying chimpanzees and it is retarded.
Oh and no stats??? I loved being able to see what kind of opponents i was about to face. Im not claiming im an awesome player but im not bad. But when i see kdr of like 3+ in a lobby, i go look for a game more suited to my abilities. Cant do that now. For all i know, im about to face a bunch of pros. How fun is that??? I also would like to be able to see how im doing compared to the competition. Cant see anyone elses stats and i think that is crap.
Its clear that the game caters to the teeny bopper crowd with fancy style but no substance. Not for serious gamers who like to have an enjoyable experience.
I might just go back to blops2.

1st:: what was a GREAT coop mode, turned into a completely bad acid trip. Was the most fun my friends and i have ever had with coop. Exciting, challenging, searching for trophies, was great fun. But then it completely changed for the WORST. Moving, changing screens became horrible at best. Literally got to the point of skipping every cut scene as fast as possible just to get done. Whoever had that horrible idea should be job searching. Sucked!!!!
2nd:: multiplayer. All the way upto BO2 the maps were original, and weapons felt balanced. Now, maps are a cluttered mess with 12 routes going everywhere. Weapon balance is non existent, with subs being so stupidly overpowered, its completely ruined the franchise. I am constantly outshot with a sub across an entire map when im using an LMG. ???? How does that make sense? Subs are made for closs quarters combat. They are not full map sniper rifles. Please fix. As far as snipers. Whats the point? You snipe someone, 5 sec later they are shooting you in the back. Again, garbage cluttered maps. Some small maps are great. But what happened to great skill maps like wastelands, estate, highrise, golfcourse, array, ect...(some are IW i know). Your maps offer nothing. Hide in a corner, or run as fast as you can with sub. Why not make some of both, and cater to all? Instead of just catering to MLG or little fanboys. You are completely ignoring the older demographic WHO MADE YOUR FRANCHISE WHAT IT IS. Not some 14-15 yr old fanboy who wants to run and gun, or quickscope. Cater to both. Wallrunning while ads, but having one hand on wall still?? Makes alotta sense. Stupid!!
3rd:: connection. When are you cheap asses gonna learn that peer to peer doesnt work. Why not dedicated for the most succesfull franchise in gaming history? And dont lie. Servers will not migrate hosts, and give you lag on a consistent basis. I have 50 dwn, 30 up, but am upto a full sec behind most games. Being shot by ppl who arent even on my screen. Have 119 ms ping. Haha. BF4 is dedicated. I have 15ms ping. See the diff?
Please take my word for what ive said. You want this franchise to improve? Quit favoring to run and gun crap only. I have 67 ppl on my friends list, most are 35+ yrs of age. Most wont buy your games any more for reasons ive stated. Add some larger maps that can actually require teamwork and strategy when your playing TD. Balance your weapons. Subs are NOT the end all be weapons you make them out to be. And fix your horrible connection issues. Its only been 4 days, but by 6 pm central time, the conn is BAD. Hard to even get more than 3 into same room.

this game sucks it is 2 futuristic and 2 cartoony.,and what is with the medevil looking characters with hoodies. this is supposed to be a warfare game. black ops were always in a league of their own until they started worrying about what AW was doing and trying 2 copy and out do them. just go back 2 the drawing board and be original and do some "PRESENT DAY WARFARE" or a "GUIRRILLA WARFARE" and bring back present day WEAPONS AND SOLDIERS you guys really fumbled with this trash I wish I could get 100 percent of my money back becuz if I resold it I would feel guilty!!

I've been trying to give it a chance but seems like it's getting worse.
The Maps are horrible, the guns are unbalanced. (Why are pistols more powerful than assault rifles?). The lag is terrible imo.. My Internet is 60 down 6 up and 30 m/s ping. Is it too slow? It's the best available in my area.
My average K/D in previous Cods has been 1.5 which I know isn't great but I could hold my own a majority of the time. In this game a get the drop on a enemy put half a clip in and lose the fight.
I will continue to play for a bit longer hoping a update will cure some of the issues but I'm not very optimistic at this point. I think right now in my opinion (and apparently many others that I've talked to in lobbies) the game is a epic fail destined to be soon forgotten. I know now why they eliminated the player online counter. Rant over lol

I agree with most of your points although I still enjoy the game. The weapons need major rebalancing. Subs are way too powerful at range. Using the burst fire I have been able to head shot snipers across the map or get someone in the face while they as head glitching. Head glitching is supposed to be a counter against aggressive tactics used by subs but it doesn't work like that.
LMGs are powerful but the extremely slow ADS makes their use nearly impossible unless you are ground camping. (Just lay on the ground in the middle of the battlefield with suppressor and get a good bit of kills before people notice).
Assault rifles are okay but other than a couple they are worthless. The assaults are far more inaccurate than SMGs like the burst fire and the damage is pretty bad.. Hits with a assault feel like black ops 1 hits with a SMG feel like ghosts.
Shotguns are garbage.
Snipers are okay IMO. After dealing with quickscopers in black ops 2 for years I'm glad they finally nerfed it though I think that the snipers should deal a bit more damage since they aren't good for QS.
I certainly agree about the specialists, they are just plain silly. I understand that COD doesn't take itself too seriously but I mean the one guy with the hive looks like a lumberjack. The camos for some are just plain pathetic. The only one that is somewhat cool is the robot (his voice is creepy). By God if I have to hear "mess with the best die like the rest" one more time.. Did they not hire writers? Anyone could have told you that shit is corny and overused. They must have hired Arnold to do their lines.
Still enjoy the game though.

Having to watch for people crawling on walls is tough. Makes me think of the very end of the original Contra for NES.
I wired my connection, port fwd my ps4 and put it into dmz. Getting 33ms ping, no packet loss, and 4100k as according to the game.
I'm still getting killed by someone who hasn't even put their gun up yet. Terrible.
I went up behind someone with the Dingo, suppressed, and it took 5 rounds directly to the back of the head at point blank to get the kill. 3 of those rounds didn't register. No hit marker even though i literally had the gun as close as i could get.
Treyarch has proven they weren't serious about competitive, high quality gaming when they made this. It caters only to a certain type of player.
Garbage, and blops2 despite its flaws is still the best COD game out there.

Loving it, probably early to say, but I think its my favorite cod. And been playing since WaW. Prestige 2 so far, 2.21 k/d, haven't lagged in a single game, hit detection perfect, smooth wall runs and toned down jet packs from AW. I really have no complaints. Way to go Treyarch!

I like how they changed the movement back to some more basic speeds, instead of that double jump ultra boost 200 mph forward crap. Some kill streaks are still retarded, but I like how they improved the easiness of taking those down.
The servers are utter crap, I often get shot once and die where as I need to hit others 8 times, even with rifles.
I like all the game modes they added, the coop campaign, zombies, and multiplayer. Kinda worth my 60 bucks

MW2 is the best COD ever made. BOPS is great though. Only problems we have had is with the parties. For some reason when we start getting 5 or 6 people in a party things start going wrong. Other than that, it's great! No other issues. The story in the campaign is garbage though. I'll agree with that.

Advanced Warfare was a good game.
Double XP is ongoing right now. If you still have PS3, grab the new Modern Warfare trilogy.
