New online player confused

Hi all, not played online since 2009, just started again, on world at war and I am pretty terrible, keep getting stabbed by people that appear to be running so fast they must be on drugs

How come my player seems so slow, my internet is fine playing on xbox mainly playing free for all or team deathmatch

players running knives and pistols will run much faster than someone running with a rifle, or LMG in their hands. What gets me is the guys with shields on their backs out running someone..
